Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Cathy

Cathy – Manager

Cathy is the manager here at Essex Animal Hospital and holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of Windsor. Cathy is thankful to be part of a talented team of doctors, technicians and staff and loves to hear feedback from clients expressing that our staff have made a difference in their lives and the quality of life for the pets they love, as well as seeing the joy on a client’s face when their dog walks again or is given a second chance at life, inspires and motivates her each day to continue to provide both excellent patient care and customer service.

In her free time, Cathy enjoys keeping active by going to gym. Her interests also include music, gardening, reading and playing games on her iPad. Cathy has a 7 year old cat, Kitty (aka Little Miss Diva), who thinks she’s a human.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Jodi

Jodi – Facilitator

Jodi is Essex Animal Hospital’s facilitator. As a facilitator, you may find Jodi—on any given day—doing computer work, answering phones and greeting clients, or assisting the office in other capacities throughout the animal hospital. Jodi has over 26 years of experience in the field, and still enjoys being part of a team that make magic happen each and every day!

“These little miracles inspire me,” says Jodi. “I have seen paralyzed dogs walk again by using acupuncture; I have seen ill cats get cured by using Holistic medicine.”

In her spare time, Jodi enjoys photography and riding adventures with her husband, Don, on their motorcycles.  Jodi has 2 married children and a granddaughter.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Shelly

Shelly Animal Care Aide

Shelly is an Animal Care Aide at Essex Animal Hospital. With over 25 years of experience, Shelly has been in the animal care field since 1987, and continues to strive towards improving her skills and education each and every year, always seeking out the newest research and information available.

“What I am most excited about is the daily challenges that Essex has to offer, and the many great outcomes that come from our rehab center,” says Shelly.

Shelly and her family share their home in Essex with two furry friends, Skeeter and Paws. When she’s not at the animal hospital, Shelly enjoys keeping an active lifestyle by playing all sports and horseback riding.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Denise

DeniseAnimal Health Technician

Denise is an animal health technician as well as a puppy socialization and obedience teacher. She has been with Essex Animal Hospital since 1999, and loves being in the position to help make life easier for animals and their owners.

Denise is married with four children and one granddaughter, and enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and learning about self-improvement. Her family has three fur children: a 15 year old Cockapoo named Flirt and two cats, Marilyn and Mimi.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Dana

DanaRegistered Veterinary Technician

Dana is a Registered Veterinary Technician.  She has been working at the animal hospital since 1999 andthen graduated from St. Clair College in 2003.  She enjoys interacting with the patients and their ownersand helping the patients during their treatments and watching them improve over time.  She also enjoysteaching young kids about animal care as she does all of our school tours at the animal clinic.  She ismarried to her husband, Rick and they have one son, Carter (15m) and three dogs, Paisley (Aust. Shep 5yrs.), Lilly (Aust. Shep. 12 yrs.), Ziggee (Golden Ret. 4 1/2 yrs.).  She enjoys horseback riding andcompeting with her dogs in dog sports such as obedience, rally and agility.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Nicole

Nicole – Veterinary Technician

Nicole is a veterinary technician and a graduate of St. Clair College Veterinary Technician Program. She most enjoys the opportunity to provide compassionate, excellent care to pets that come into our hospital, whether it’s a routine visit or a medical concern. She is passionate about continuing education in her field and is always eager to learn.

She lives with her husband and her black lab Gunner and her son Mason.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Jessy

Jessy – Registered Veterinary Technician / Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jessy is Essex Animal Hospital’s veterinarian technician. As a Vet Tech, Jessy has the opportunity to see an animal come back year after year to the animal hospital. “That’s the best feeling,” says Jessy, “that’s why I became an RVT.”

Jessy holds a BSC from the University of Windsar (’09) and a VT from WCCCD Wayne State (’12). Jessy loves the fact that her job allows her to watch an animal grow and get better. As hobbies, Jessy enjoys reading all about new scientific findings in both the human and animal world. She especially has an interest for rehab and new developments in the field.

Jessy shares her home with six pets—three cats and three dogs. She has a 10 year old cat with cerebellar nypoplasia, Simba; 3-year-old cat, Karma; and a 6-month-old cat, WiFi. Jessy also has a 2-year-old lab pointer, Max, who has a paralyzed front leg, and two golden retrievers—7-year-old Murphy and 5-year-old Winston, for whom she shares joint custody with her parents.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Vikki

Vikki – Veterinary Assistant

Vikki is a Veterinary Assistant and has been with Essex Animal Hospital since October, 2014. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2009.”

Vikki is pictured here with her greyhound, Jimmy, and she is actively involved in a local greyhound rescue. What interests her the most is the holistic medicine we offer and the ability to continue learning through a career with Essex Animal Hospital


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Gayle

Gayle

Gayle has been an employee of Essex Animal Hospital since 1990. On a typical day you may find Gayle answering phones, assisting our veterinarians and technicians, walking dogs, cleaning, restocking or cuddling one of our boarders.

Gayle is passionate about animal rights and pet over population and devotes much of her time and resources to worthy animal causes and stray animals.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Jane

Jane – Kennel Supervisor

Jane came to Essex Animal Hospital as a volunteer. But after seeing the passion and love that she had towards animals, she was offered a position as the animal hospital’s Kennel Supervisor. “I love the interaction with animals,” says Jane. “It is very rewarding to be able to work and help with the wellbeing of family pets.”

When Jane is not working at the animal hospital, you can find her gardening, roller blading, and bird watching. Jane also participates in body building, and enjoys nature walks, dog walking, as well as cooking and baking.

Jane shares her home with her Yorkie Oliver. Before her lovable fur ball, Jane was a mother to a much loved English Setter she had until it turned 14 years old. From the age of 9 to 14, the pup had to use a k-9 cart due to a leg paralysis.


Essex Animal Hospital Staff-Ashley

Ashley – Kennel Assistant

Ashley started out as a volunteering in November of 2009, and has been employed as a kennel assistant with EAH since June of 2010. After high school, Ashley completed her first semester of the veterinary technician program at St. Clair College. She loves working with animals and being able to assist in their care, witnessing the love that a family shares with their pets, and providing a helping hand to her co-workers. Her hobbies include rollerblading, basketball, boxing, public speaking, and being an active member of Tecumseh Area Toastmasters. Ashley and her family have a dog named Oscar, and four cats: Calico, Puffball, Patchette, and Trunk.


Deanne – Kennel Assistant

As a child, Dee always seemed to have unusual pets; chameleons, lizards, degus, quails, skunks and even a raccoon. Dee has always had a great love and respect for animals and has rescued more than 52 cats over the years!

Dee is inspired working at Essex Animal Hospital, witnessing a beloved pet improve with every visit; some being able to use their legs again after therapy treatment like acupuncture, or underwater treadmill.

Dee studied Medical Terminology at St. Clair College.

She has always been an animal and nature enthusiast. At home on her acre of land she enjoys gardening and surrounding herself with beautiful landscapes. She shares her home with her husband Terry, her sons Richard and David, and her daughter Ashley (who also works at the Essex Animal Hospital). They currently have two indoor rescue cats, Patchette and Trunk, and two outdoor rescue cats Oreo and Spooky.
